How much has the role of a CSO changed in recent times?
I got an opportunity to work as a CSO,with Asia’s single largest location Aluminum producer at Jharsuguda, in my experience the expectation from the CSOs is not only limited till secure premises, but CSOs are being involved in Buisness Executive Committees, so as to closely understand the need and strategy of the business. CSOs play a very important role in identification of white-collar crime indicators, Investigations, and end to end closure of WB complaints.
How do you foresee security strategies taking shape in Indian organizations in future?
I think, Lean, Agile and digital security function along with situational awareness, with matrix reporting structure to direct corporate house is the future.
How much have Indian organizations matured in understanding the importance of securing their information using the latest technology tools?
Still information security is considered as CISO's job alone, and in many organizations CISO is randomly chosen from existing IT team, which is not a very good approach.
What is the extent of penetration of AI in the security devices and systems and how are organizations benefiting from it?
AI is the new buzz, and everybody is talking about the same, but in large set ups like in manufacturing and mining, tailor made solutions are not available, you need to design the security solution keeping the socio- political ecosystem of the respective organization in mind. The cost is also very high and ROI/ payback time is quite huge, due to which the funding of the AI based security projects becomes the first hurdle.
