UBM India launched the preview edition of International Fire Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC Bangladesh) in Dhaka during April 18th -20th, 2019 at ICCB. The expo brought together internationally renowned exhibitors, consultants, industry experts and key government officials on a single platform to exchange global best practices and seek solutions for challenges pertaining to industrial security, civil and fire protection industries.

The inauguration saw the presence of Special Guests: S M Khorshed, President, Bangladesh Association of Construction Industry (BACI); Md. Motaher Hoshan Khan, President, Electronics Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh- ESSAB; Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Vice President, BKMEA; A R Chowdhury Repon, Executive Director, OSHE Foundation; George Faller, Chief Technical Advisor, RMG project, International Labour Organization (ILO); Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India and Pankaj Jain, Group Director, UBM India.

Speaking on the occasion of the maiden launch of IFSEC Bangladesh in Dhaka, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “South Asia is an especially vulnerable as well as a progressive zone when it comes to security and surveillance due to the teeming population, and issues of crime and terrorism, and developing digital technology with the need for data protection. Besides, in emerging economies like Bangladesh industrialization has brought a radical alteration in the lives of the people. Backed by successful shows in India and globally, we are delighted to extend our wings to the SAARC region for the first time with this show.”

Bangladesh’s safety and security equipment and services market is primarily driven by the rapid urbanization and the ongoing globalization wherein, the need for robust and updated security technologies is increasing significantly. Sensing this need, the Government of Bangladesh recently announced the launch of the ambitious Dhaka City Digital Monitoring System that will bring the entire Dhaka city under video surveillance to ensure better safety and security as well as combat crimes. Besides, its 'Vision 2021' targets further growth in economy, especially in pharmaceuticals, hotels, hospitals, power, agriculture, leather, large infrastructure, ICT & telecom and ship breaking. The Safety and Security industry in Bangladesh, which is at a nascent stage will greatly benefit from the IFSEC expo with its array of global industry updates, legislation, security demos, workshops, products and services by leading experts from the globe.

In its launch edition, IFSEC Bangladesh conducted a one day conference with the theme ‘Professional Security for an Insecure World’ alongside the exhibition on Day 1 of the expo. Some of the key topics covered were ‘How Artificial Intelligence is Used to Bolster Security Systems’; ‘Tech that Help Bolster the Security of a New-Age City’; ‘Corporate Risk Management: Evolving role of CSOs in an era of rapid innovations and disruptions’; ‘The Integration of Cyber Security With Physical Security’; ‘The Role of Data Analytics in Ensuring Safe Cities’; and ‘The Threat of Cyber Security Attacks on Security Systems’.
