Please dwell on the changing role of a CSO in ensuring security for an organization.
Earlier the job of a CSO was limited to secure building premises, perimeter security focusing on guarding and CCTV surveillance including resource (man & material) movement at the most. But now a CSO is expected to manage not limited to the above mentioned areas but mitigate the risk factors involved like BCP/DRP, Due diligence of vendors, manage VMS, ODCs and Hub rooms and Access management. CSO’s role is evolving into a mission critical services that spans risk areas ranging from data protection, vendor due diligence, regulatory requirements for business continuity & compliance management and employee transportation. They are not only responsible for overall workplace safety but also extending to people safety when they are traveling between home and office.
How do you foresee security strategies maturing in the Indian corporate organisations?
Security strategies are maturing in Indian Corporate sector in a big way. They have the leverage of using the technology which is MUST in today’s world. They can use the framework of People, Process and technology to prioritize identifying and remediating the vulnerabilities arising from information security concerns, regulatory requirements, geopolitical threats, governance and compliance obligations, employees’ medical and psychological well-being.
What role can technologies such as AI, IoT, Machine Learning and Big Data play in enhancing security of an organization?
AI coupled with IoT have outdated the legacy systems and Industries are exploring the technologies for Facial recognition for access management and also analyse the mood of people and can predict the intent of person getting inside the premises. AI trends emerging in the security industry with Advanced Video Analytics which is one of the first major domains within the security industry and it can also be used to enhance the overall experience of VMS. The expansion of sensors and devices through the IoT are used in organizations, which is creating volume of data and used meaningfully. IOT can used to automate your vehicle parking system and vehicle tracking system to improve safety and security. Big Data can be used to analyze the trend of activities and identify opportunities for automation etc.
How do you think expos such as IFSEC India can be leveraged by the security stakeholders to enhance awareness about security products and learn about security strategies?
